What is Private Training/Sessions?
Private
Training is an in home service, where a trainer comes to you and teaches you to train your dog, in your own home, at your
own pace. Private Lessons are great because they are geared towards your needs only. You can cover
all the topics you need on your time, and get a training plan, and homework to complete in between sessions. Private
lessons include material offered in an average obedience class and are taught in your home, at your convenience.
This
home-based service offers dog owners who have limited time an opportunity to improve their relationship with their pet dogs.
Training at home is especially appropriate for dog owners who find travel to classes difficult. Together we can identify
problem behaviors and training solutions. We can also train skills that will improve your dogs ability to
be calm and manageable. You will learn gentle and positive training methods that incorporate all kinds of motivation
from praise, food and toys as reinforcement for positive behaviors and learned commands. Just a Few Skills Your Dog Can Learn: - Walking
on a loose leash
- Sit when greeting people
- Come when called
- Basic commands
- Play retrieve (chasing a ball or frisbee and returning the toy to you)
- Taking food gently from your hand
- Relinquishing favorite toys or treats without a fuss
- Tricks (cute and useful!)
- Stand calmly for grooming or veterinary care (including toenail cutting)
- Settle down on a dog bed or in a crate for a period of time when directed to do so
- Wait at doorways
in the house or car

What are Behavior Consultations?
Behavioral Consultations are very similar to Private Training except a specific behavioral issue
or issues are addressed. Issues such as all types of aggression, separation anxiety, compulsive/obsessive
behaviors, food guarding and territoriality, hyperactivity and compulsive behaviors are all best dealt with on an individual
basis. Consultations include a period of observation and discussion, a training plan, demonstrations and
practice of techniques and follow up whether by phone, email or in person. The amount of sessions you will need
will depend on the issue(s), time you have in between to work with your dog and your comfort level. Everyone is
different and we want what works best for you, and gets your dog to a healthy and happy state as fast as possible.
